Spanish copper "pirate" money. Excellent copper 8-Maravedis coin struck by Philip IV of Spain, 1621-1665 AD. The coin once depicted a lion on one side and a castle on the other, but was counterstamped when it was revalued in 1641, with a large “1641” on one side and Roman numeral “VIII” on the other. Deep coppery tone, sharp detail! Encapsulated and graded Fine Details by NGC. Coin measures 25mm diameter; archival slab measures 3.125" x 2.125" x 0.375”. Provenance: Ex De Père, WI collection.Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
