Published Romano-British Enameled Brooch // 1st Century AD
Product Description
A very nice early Romano-British enameled bronze plate brooch, late 1st century AD. A fine quality disc brooch with a circular laurel-wreath design comprised of intricate inlaid blue enamel details (turned mostly black with age). Overall nicely preserved with some chipping, missing original pin. W: 1 inch, mounted on antique cardboard display (entire display stands 3.25"H). Published in Hattat 1987, No. 1016. A very rare type, prior to being published in Hattat's book the only parallel noted is in Rihana's 1979 Taf. 57 for reference.
