1935 A $ 1 R and S Experimental Silver Certificates # 065 and # 862

Being offered today is a VERY, VERY rare $1 Dollar 1935 “A” series Silver Certificate “EXPERIMENTAL “R” and “S” Notes. BOTH NOTES ARE GRADED IN 65. The “R” note is Graded in PCGS 65 PPQ (Premium Paper Quality). The “S” note is Graded in PMG 65 EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality). These notes also carry the additional grading of GEM NEW and GEM UNCIRCULATED. This designation shows that the notes looks like they were just printed.

A large red “R” and “S” in the lower right corner distinguished notes printed using special paper. This specific series are the only experimental Silver Certificates printed in this unique fashion. With quantities printed of 1,184,000, the “R” and “S” series were released June 20, 1944 and issued into circulation to test their comparative disabilities. These experimental notes make up less than 1% of all 1935A notes and survivors are considered scarce.

The test of the “R” and “S” currency was to help in the World War II effort to conserve resources. An “R” note was printed with regular paper. The “S” note presented here was printed using special paper.

The notes are centered perfectly, and the ink just pops off the notes. The colors are bright and bold. The notes offered here has fantastic eye appeal. The notes shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the notes are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears.
