Le Dôme Saint-Emilion is the benchmark estate and wine owned by Jonathan Maltus of Château Teyssier. The estate is a small, single vineyard located on the Right Bank planted to Cabernet Franc (75%) and Merlot (25%). The vines are over 65 years old and world-class wines are created year after year. The wines of Le Dôme are expensive, hard to find, and have a unique character due to the high portion of Cabernet Franc in the blend.
Jonathan Maltus is one of the top winemakers in the world, described by Robert Parker as a “visionary, self-styled revolutionary” and “the English winemaking guru." Jonathan is the owner of multiple wineries in Bordeaux and World’s End in Napa that have garnered international acclaim, one of which includes the single-vineyard ‘Le Dôme’, for which he received a 100 point score from Robert Parker.
The 2003 Le Dôme is a single vineyard super-cuvée, designated as a Grand Cru Classe wine in Saint-Emilion. This is an opportunity to appreciate and experience Bordeaux with a perfectly aged, rare, and distinctive wine.
This wine is… “a brilliant combination of power and complexity. The deep plum/garnet color shows no lightening, and the wine exhibits supple tannins, a voluptuous texture, and notes of forest floor, blueberries, raspberries and mulberries. Ripe, but not over-the-top, this offering was aged in 100% new oak, but you would never know that given the fact that any evidence of oak has been pushed to the background except for a trace of espresso. This brilliant, impeccably made wine is a spectacular success in this vintage. It should drink well for 6-10 more years. Drink: 2014 – 2024.” Robert Parker
