Product Description

Brew your espresso at home with the NEO, an all-manual espresso maker created to be simple, environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and fun, all while producing delicious espresso. The NEO is designed to control the flow of your brew water through your coffee grounds to ensure proper espresso extraction every time. This means you can use any whole beans you want and grind them with any grinder you have. Whether you use a high-end burr grinder or a less expensive grinder with traditional blades, the result will be the same: beautiful, delicious shots of espresso topped with a luscious layer of crema.

This manual espresso maker is perfect for novice brewers and seasoned coffee enthusiasts alike. The NEO can be easily disassembled for cleaning and requires no plugs or pods to deliver delicious espresso, only hot water. The sleek design and modern lines make it a stylish addition to any kitchen or camping kit.

The NEO’s Flow Control Portafilter simplifies the espresso brewing process through the use of a restricted exit channel. The channel regulates the brewing pressure and extraction time, thus eliminating the need for a Pressure Gauge. Pulling a shot of espresso with the NEO should take approximately 20-30 lb of pressure on the lever. If you would like to elongate your shot time, simply ease up on the force applied.

The Flow Control Portafilter provides great results with grounds of nearly any coarseness, but ideally grounds should be just a bit finer than sand but coarser than a typical "espresso" grind. Don't worry if it's not exact. With the Flow Control Portafilter, your results will not be limited by your grinder's ability to have an exact grind. The included stainless steel screen should last for years and will not require replacement unless lost or damaged.

When cleaning, begin by removing used grounds. Once the grounds are removed, rinse all pieces in cool water. No soap is needed, so you won't have to worry about it impacting the flavor of your espresso. From time to time, consider flushing the NEO by following the brewing process with cold water instead of coffee. Rinse parts and accessories with cool water and wipe the press stand with a clean cloth after each use to remove any coffee liquid or grounds.

FAQ
Does it only brew an espresso or even regular coffee?

Because coffee and espresso have, by definition, different brewing techniques, the best experience for either is with a brewing system that is built specifically for what you would like to drink.

The major difference between espresso and other coffee brewing methods is pressure. To brew espresso, hot water is forced through a bed of finely ground coffee at high pressure, typically between 6 and 9 BAR. The contact between the coffee grounds and the water at pressure results in a higher level of extraction, meaning that the natural oils and gasses in the coffee grounds are drawn out. The result is a stronger, more robust, but smaller coffee beverage with a layer of natural foam on top called crema.

The NEO was specifically designed to brew espresso at home. While it is not the best fit for someone looking to brew regular coffee, you can easily add hot water to your espresso to create an Americano, which is a delicious alternative to a drip coffee!
